On the whole at Danielle Cohen Solicitors we operate a fixed fee prices for cases. The costs vary according to the complexity of the case, and when you come to the first appointment you are under no obligation to become our client and you do not have to pay for the first consultation, unless you decide to become our client. The time spent in the first consultation will form part of the fixed fee for the case. You will pay a deposit in order to have “a retainer”, a contract between us and you, and before we submit your application in a straight forward application, or conclude your case you will pay the balance due. If the case is ongoing you will be issued with interim bills to pay towards your fixed fee costs.
On some occasions you will be charged an hourly basis. All disbursements are in addition to the fixed fee. For postage, packaging, telecommunication charges, copying charges, stationary, sundries, and miscellaneous, there is a charge of 4% of our fees. If you are subject to VAT, this will be added to the costs. Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as visa fees, interpreters, translations, country expert reports, medical reports and of course the Home Office fee and the NHS surcharge, if applicable. The name of the interpreting agency we use is Verbatim Interpreters. Their hourly rate is £25 per hour. Translation rates vary according to length, and are charged per words. We handle the payment of disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smooth process. You are not liable for VAT if you have no permission to live in the UK, if you are a visitor or if you are making an application from abroad for an entry clearance. Therefore, our prices sometimes include VAT and sometimes do no, depending on your personal circumstances and the nature of the application.
