On the 19th November 2008, in a country guidance case, an Asylum and Immigration Tribunal Promulgated a determination, which promised to end years of uncertainty, and mixed signals on the dangers faced by and whether to return failed Zimbabwean asylum seekers.
The decision, that if it cannot be actively shown that a person supported and was loyal to ZANU-PF, than even where the claimant was not politically active in opposition in Zimbabwe, they may be at risk on return to Zimbabwe, was heralded as a turning point for Zimbabwean asylum seekers.
