The route for British citizens to make applications under the EU Settlement Scheme for a Family Permit for their family members to return with, or join them in the UK, will close. This route was very unpopular with the Home Office and post-Brexit it had little chances to survive.
The Provisions of Appendix EU (Family Permits) specifically stated that the family members of a British citizen must enter the UK with the family permit before 29th March 2022 but the Home Office website confirms that the deadline applies to making the application. Therefore, the Family Permit Application must be made before that date and the entry can happen after 29th March 2022.
It is not an open-ended timeframe and therefore it is advisable to make these applications without undue delay. Once the family member has entered the UK one is advised to make an application for pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme.
