We were initially instructed by a Zambian national when she was still a minor and was in the United Kingdom on a student visa.  She was granted various leaves to remain as a student and when she could not qualify for settlement after 10 years lawful residence, because of excessive periods of absence we assisted her in being granted further leave to remain on the basis of her private and family life.  Later on, we submitted an application for her for indefinite leave to remain and the application was successful.  A year later we had the pleasure in assisting her in her application for naturalisation as a British citizen.  It was a wonderful experience to be able to hold the hand of this young woman from being a student to being a British national.
