Use Form COA (MARRIAGE/CIVIL PARTNERSHIP) if you wish to marry or register a civil partnership in the United Kingdom. This form should only be used to apply for a Certificate of Approval for Marriage or Civil Partnership. The certificate will allow foreign nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK to notifiy a Registrar that they intend to marry in the UK. Approval of this application will not give the applicant leave to remain in the United Kingdom

Persons with United Kingdom ancestry (Zimbabwean applications, with immediate effect all UK ancestry cases should be submitted via the postal route.)
Highly skilled migrant
Long residence in the United Kingdom
Victim of domestic violence
Other purposes/reasons not covered by other application forms

You should not use this form when applying for a work permit as the husband, wife, unmarried partner or other family member of a person present and settled in the United Kingdom.
