Get a UK Work Permit

We have helped numerous immigrants to get a work permit in the United Kingdom.

Work permits are issued by Work Permits (UK), part of the Home Office's Border and Immigration Agency. A work permit relates to a specific person and a specific job.

You cannot apply directly for a work permit. The employer in the UK who wants to employ you must do this. The employer should send the filled-in application form at least eight weeks before the date they need you to start work. If you want to get a work permit we will liaise with yourself and your employer to ensure that the intricate Work Permit UK requirements are adhered to. The main requirements in order to get a work permit are:-

  1. the worker from abroad will not be taking a job that can be done by a person in the UK or the European Economic Area; and
  2. the person must have either:
    1. a UK degree level qualification; or
    2. a HND level occupational qualification which entitles a person to do a specific job (for example medical laboratory technician); or
    3. a general HND level qualification plus one years work experience doing the type of job for which the permit is sought;
    4. a high level or specialist skills acquired through doing the type of job for which the permit is sought for at least three years. The type of job should be an NVQ level 3 or above. Examples of those who would qualify include:
      1. head or second chefs;
      2. specialist chefs with skills in preparing ethnic cuisine;
      3. those with occupational skills and language or cultural skills not readily available in the European Economic Area.
  3. the person from abroad must have all the skills and qualifications necessary for the job; and
  4. there must be a genuine vacancy.
The employer must advertise the job in the most appropriate medium for reaching suitably qualified or experienced 'resident workers'. If you feel that you may qualify to get a work permit in the United Kingdom we would be happy to meet you for an initial appointment to discuss your options and the action that should be taken.
